Zebra Butterflies

Zebra Butterflies

This is my interpretation of a very delicate creature that has an almost year-round presence in my southern tropical yard. I’ve often been intrigued by the simplicity of nature’s designs. In the case of the Zebra Butterfly, its contrast of black and yellow is very striking! Weeding is a joy as I watch them flutter in whimsical patterns from plant to plant on a typical sunny day.
This picture is 24″x 20″ and has approximately 500 pieces. There are no unintended lines and the texture flows in the background to represent the endless blue sky. The original hardware and the window frame were salvaged from a “junking trip” in Virginia.
