Bella Luna

Bella Luna

Since joining up with the Liberatchik family, I wanted to capture some of the influences in my life past and present. The newest piece produced on my glass table is “Bella Luna,” which has a combination of three representations, along with a couple of glass experiments I wanted to try. (And what better time than with a technically simple piece of work along with a complicated idea!)
The main subject matter in my picture is the Luna Moth. Some folklore about the Luna moth is represented by spiritual transformation. This could be implied by the process of metamorphosis, beautiful and magical by any standard. Other things I understand it represents is a rebirth, knowledge seeking, intuition, and its relentless seeking of the light in the dark night sky which is where it gets its name. The particular moth in my picture is a male, depicted by the feathery antennae. The male Luna only lives for about a week after it has developed into its complete and beautiful self. I can’t think of one person in the entire world that doesn’t love what a Luna offers in a night sky. Beauty, grace, love and a sense of peace. I have always been attracted to the Luna and its story, and I inserted it into my picture as a representation of an incredible man. I never met him, but I imagine anyone who enjoyed his presence would agree. This Luna Moth is The Reverend Ken “Hutch” Hutcherson. God rest his incredible soul.
The second representation is the moon. I chose mirror material so anyone can look in and be the Man in the Moon. We all know, there is only one Man in the Moon! That would be Glenn Beck. My neighbor Gina and I were laughing our patooties off because of the picture I chose to use in this presentation. I remembered watching Glenn Beck when he was poking some good fun at the loftiness of artists. That was truly a hilarious show. I also tried to bid on one of the pieces Glenn was painting, till the price went out of my range. I believe Glenn Beck is one of the most creative and inspiring people on this earth today. The Man In The Moon was stunningly beautiful, very diffrent, and the song “Bella Luna” equally. I love them both. Glens relationship with “The Hutch” was no mistake, and they have shown us all how to love and attain a spiritual transformation. Anyone can look into this mirror, and remember our beautiful man, Hutch.
I used the Liberatchik logo in this picture to mark my first piece with the good artists’ on the Liberatchik website. Thank you. The L, as you know represents liberty, and the sun is rising on a new day. Together the sun is rising on liberty once again.
This piece is built with very soft colors. The moon and logos are embedded in the glass while the lettering and moth are mounted on the surface. It makes a beautiful night light with a low watt light behind it. The frame is early 1800’s and measures 18″x16″.
