The Holy Ghost

The Holy Ghost

This mirror creation is my interpretation of the Ghost Orchid. Native to Africa, it is assumed that seeds were blown across the Atlantic and flourished in the Florida Everglades as well as Cuba. This orchid has no leaves. Photosynthesis occures in its very large exposed roots. Highly sought after by photographers, it blooms during the rainy season in South Florida. It is a very arduous task to locate this rare beauty until the incredible flower blooms. It is close to impossible to culture a ghost orchid outside of the everglades. This “Holy Ghost” is there for your viewing pleasure 24-7, depending on whether or not you want to observe yourself equally. The mirror material is salvaged from a trash pile, and the window frame was salvaged from New Hampshire.
