Migration, the Forgiven

Migration, the Forgiven

This piece is quite complicated in its featured butterflies. All are monarchs but one. The one is the spirit monarch which has passed on this life and is preparing to move toward the next world. The spiritual world. The addition to this work, that was a special gift to me, I’ll keep it personal. The “Forgiven” part which is the spiritual transformation of a monarch into its perfect form. It’s antenna point slightly downward as a last homage to the living and its sign or seeking forgiveness. It will face a different direction than the other twelve. This particular butterfly will glow in the dark symbolizing its spirituality.
Symbolic in the representation of humans, the monarch antenna are all of different shape making them all individual. All are uniformly facing one direction with one opposing. A satanic visual lies in the obscured distance off to the pitfalls of everyday life. This piece has an accompanying poem written by the published writer Susan Belevance. (Thank you my dear)
Migration, the Forgiven is made up of 13 monarchs. Each made up of 75 individual pieces. They are all signed, dated, and mounted on a beautiful piece of driftwood. That makes the piece count (for all the stained glass lovers out there) 975 collectively. The salvaged wooden treasure was found while climbing around on the rocky shoreline of the Potomac River this past summer. The location was on the Virginia side, a few miles north of the Rt. 301 Bridge. These signed and dated pollinators are mounted on green glass rocks that are illuminated, and glows in the dark. The mushrooms mean absolutely nothing, I just wanted to make them. This piece is made up of three different circuits of lights . The colors vary from blue, green, yellow and red, be pending on the placement.
