The Roost

The Roost

I remember the first time I saw some roosting zebras. I was just stunned. The beauty was beyond comprehension, as we have all seen monarch butterfly’s migrate in large numbers. It was magical, and that is what I have attempted to portray with this piece. The Zebra Long Wings, indigenous to South Florida does not migrate, but every evening they meet at a predetermined place to sleep for the purposes of safety. High up in the trees, away from most insect eating predator. If they are eaten in one sitting, a bellyache is sure to be had. This piece lights up and after it has finished its lighting, it glows soft blues and green colors. In this way, it will be as magical for you.
The Roost is made from a load of scrap glass along with a beautiful piece of driftwood from the Potomac River near Stafford Virginia. LED lights and a transformer from my old rechargeable drill.
